How does living below sea level affect the way we love, fear, and relate to each other? And what do the Tikkie app and the Oosterscheldekering have in common? Through voice, electronics, modular synths, guitar, and piano, WATERWAKE moves through improvised songs, sound pieces, and personal stories that circle infrastructures of water and feeling: about the Delta Works’ resistance against the ocean, the Chicago River’s engineered reversal away from Lake Michigan, Frisian terpen, Brienenoord’s Chaos Cows, Roman romances by the Tiber, the Zanclean flood, the hidden forest beneath Venice, and more.
